2.0 mm - use with embroidery floss and tightly woven fabric
2.5 mm - use with double knit cotton yarn and tightly woven fabric or monks cloth
3 mm - use with double knit weight yarn (cotton or acyrlic) and monks cloth
A good rule of thumb is:
The smaller the punch needle - the thinner the yarn and tighter weave of fabric needed.
The bigger the punch needle - the thicker the yarn and the looser weave of fabric needed.
